Sun, Sand & Hooves: A Perfect Day at the Beach with the Ponies

Sun, Sand & Hooves: A Perfect Day at the Beach with the Ponies

There’s something truly special about combining ponies, sunshine, and the seaside—and that’s exactly what made one October weekend absolutely unforgettable for a group of pony-mad kids (and their four-legged best friends)!

With clear skies and a rare free weekend, the team loaded up their ponies and headed off to the beautiful shores of Port Stephens for a day of beachside riding and fun in the surf. For Penny and her golden Palomino pony, Fergie (making her very first trip to the beach), it was the beginning of a magical adventure.

And as it turns out—Fergie might just be part dolphin! Once they reached a quiet stretch of sand, the ponies waded into the sparkling water like pros. The kids giggled and splashed, while the ponies cooled off, splashing about and clearly enjoying every moment of the refreshing dip. It wasn’t long before an impromptu “pony boat race” began—where balance and fun were the name of the game!

After all the watery fun, the group wandered back down the beach to enjoy some well-earned ice creams, still grinning from ear to ear. It was a day filled with laughter, freedom, and the kind of memories that only pony adventures can bring.

Before heading home, the ponies were rinsed off to get rid of the salty sea water, and once back at the stables, they were turned out into their paddocks for a well-deserved roll and rest.

**Top Tip for Beach Rides:** If you're planning your own pony beach day, we highly recommend using synthetic gear like biothane bridles and synthetic pony pads. We love TCR Canine Equine Wear for biothane bridles and use a Wintec Ponypad with a synthetic anti all girth. Saltwater can be tough on traditional leather tack, but these materials are beach-friendly and easy to clean—just give them a good rinse after the ride and they’re ready for next time!

Penny, Fergie, and their friends had the time of their lives—and it’s safe to say that this won’t be their last beach ride. Bring on the next salty, sandy, pony-powered adventure!
